First Methodist recently endorsed a proposed change in the church’s administrative structure affecting the church’s decision making procedures. The Charge Conference approved this move which is to take effect January 1. The change would replace the current Administrative Board and Council on Ministries with a single, smaller body known as the Church Council.
The new structure is consistent with the United Methodist Book of Discipline (2008) and in line with the management structure employed by almost all of the churches in our conference. The consolidation of responsibilities in the Church Council is seen as allowing for better communication and planning by reducing the number of decision makers and combining duplications of effort. This new alignment and a listing of the Church Officers filling these positions for the coming year can be found under the Resources tab by selecting Administrative Structure or clicking here.
