FUMC recognizes eight local students as First United Methodist Scholars for 2024

FUMC Scholars for 2024 awarded scholarships during hte May 5 worship service (left to right): Makayla Ellerbe, graduating from Cheraw High School, enrolling at USC this fall in Nursing (Dr. Maxcy Hook Scholarship); Zach Carabo, rising junior at Newberry College in Business Administration (Stephen Scott Burr Scholarship); Lily Melton, rising Junior at Coastal Carolina University in Sports Recreation and Management (Lucy Brasington Scholarship); Nathan Rogers, graduating from Cheraw High School, enrolling this fall at Midlands Technical College in Automotive Technology (Hubert B. Norton Scholarship); Sawyer Becker, rising sophomore at Clemson University in Financial Management (Charlie Scott Laney, Jr. Scholarship); Peyton Taylor, graduating from Cheraw High School, enrolling this fall at Presbyterian College in Psychology (F. Garland Streete and Elizabeth Streete Traynham Scholarship). Not present but also receiving scholarships were: Eva Goddard, graduating Cheraw High School, enrolling at Virginia Tech in Veterinary Science (C. Anthony & Jean L. Harris Scholarship); Bailey Cato, graduating from Chesterfield High School, enrolling this fall at Clemson University in Mathematics and Data Analysis. These students were awarded cash scholarships totaling over $15,000 to pursue their post-secondary educational interests.
