I know that many of you are gearing up for the start of football season. I also want you to get geared up for the fall season at church beginning this month. Please mark your calendars for the following:
- On Sunday, September 7th we will have a Church Council Meeting at 7:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The Finance Committee will meet prior to that meeting at 6:00 p.m.
- “Wednesday at the First” will begin on September 10th. Dinner will be served from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m. Programming will start at 6:30 p.m. The cost for the meal is $7.00 for adults and $3.00 for children with a maximum of $21.00 for families.
- On Sunday, September 14th, we will have Promotion Sunday, a “Blessing of the Hands” Service and a Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Breakfast.
- Our church’s Charge Conference is scheduled for Saturday, September 20th at 10:00 a.m. Committee chairs should be preparing reports and scheduling any necessary meetings as we get ready for this important date.
- On Sunday, September 21st, we have a “Tailgate at the Church” Party on the church grounds from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. More details will be coming later.
- On Sunday, September 28th, there will be a commissioning service for our Red Bird missionaries.
- Also in September many of our Sunday School classes will begin to follow “The Story” curriculum and I will begin to preach sermons from this series.These are just a few of the happenings at First Church in September. I hope that you will be a part of these important congregational activities.
