First Methodist will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Monday, March 19 from 2-7 pm in the fellowship hall. If 21 donors do not commit prior to the scheduled date, the visit will have to be canceled. Make an appointment by calling the church office, signing the sheet on the church office door or going online at www.redcrossblood.org and using the sponsor code fumccheraw.

- Every 2 seconds someone needs blood
- 38,000 donations are needed every day in the US
- a single car accident victim can require as many as 100 pints of blood
- 9.5 million Americans give blood each year to meet the needs of 5 million needing blood
- Blood cannot be manufactured, it comes only from generous donors
- You have 10 pints of blood and donate about 1 pint, your body then replaces this pint in less than a month
- Donated blood must be used within 42 days of its donation
- One-half of donors are female and one-half are male
- teh American Red Cross provides about 40% of the nation’s blood supply
