Saturday night at First Methodist was a teen’s dream: All the food you could possibly eat, games and activities that changed every hour, and no curfew…in fact, the adults were encouraging you not to go to bed but to stay up all night. Youth Director Brandon Buchanan and a few courageous adult chaperones spent the night at the church with seventeen of First Methodist’s youth. The rules were simple: have fun and you can’t leave the church building. The evening began at 7 pm and concluded the next morning at 7 am. During their twelve hours of sleepless revelry, the group was treated to endless snacks and a variety of games and activities planned by Buchanan that apparently captured the attention of nearly all since only a couple were caught catching a catnap during the night. After the lockin and cleanup, the twenty-four year old Buchanan was quoted as saying, “I’m getting too old for this.”
