Now that the newness has worn off….

Happy September, Church Family!
With this new month, comes a variety of new opportunities to be involved both spiritually and communally at your First UMC/Cheraw.   Located in a variety of articles throughout this very newsletter, you’ll find descriptions of new Bible Studies, weekend outings, fellowship opportunities, and mission activities which are calling out to you for your participation! I hope to see you at one or more of them!
As your new pastor, we have been in ministry together now over two months! Can you believe it? Now that some of the “transitional business” is over, I wanted to take a moment to assure you that I am eager and willing to serve you in a variety of ways!  If there is a new Bible or spiritual growth study you would like to see offered at First UMC, come and talk to me about it!
If there is a small group or large community gathering you would like to see First UMC host, come and talk to me about it!  If there is a church council or committee position you are interested in leading…or joining, please come and talk to me about it.

Our Annual Charge Conference is slated for late October, so over the next month, we will be focusing intentionally on recruiting some new leadership positions. Do you feel called to serve in a specific ministry area? Come and talk to me about it!

Finally, although we have a new staff position which focuses primarily on congregational care and nurture, please know that I am always available for any and all pastoral care needs you may have. Please be sure to let me know directly of any surgeries or health care issues/concerns you may have. I would feel privileged to pray with you over a visit in the hospital and/or your home. And I have two very good listening ears available if you have any spiritual/emotional concerns with which you are struggling.

I am here to minister with you…and to you…

And speaking of….being here for you….
I want to let you know that I enjoy “walking to work” and on any given day when I don’t have an appointment elsewhere, I will most likely walk from the parsonage to the church. So…if you don’t see my truck at the church, please “come on in” anyway, because you’ll probably find me sitting at my desk working on something…more than likely writing thank you notes for all the gracious ways you folks serve me…this church…and each other!

I’m so very glad to be here with you in Cheraw, at First UMC.

I’ll see you around the neighborhood!

Blessings, Pastor Kim
