At the close of the worship service this Sunday, Lib Norton, chair of the Staff-Parish Relations Committee, announced to the congregation that pastor Paul Wood had received an appointment to another charge for the year beginning in late June. Paul briefly commented that the news had been received with very mixed feelings given the long and satisfying relationships that he and Kay had enjoyed at First Methodist over the last five years. Lib indicated that it would be another several weeks before the announcement of the name of the pastor assigned by Bishop Holston to lead us in the coming year. As FUMC moves on, we’re reminded that our last five years are now a chapter in the past. We don’t close the book…we just turn the page.
